California Forever: The Startup Building America's Next Great City
In this episode, Jan Sramek shares the ambitious vision behind California Forever, a project aiming to reshape the future of urban development in America by combining sustainability, innovation, and large-scale infrastructure planning.
California Forever is developing a new city across more than 100 square miles in Solano County, designed to be self-funded, sustainable, and highly livable. The initiative responds to Northern California’s critical housing shortage while pursuing broader economic and technological revival. A cornerstone of the plan is the Solana Foundry, an advanced manufacturing hub that integrates AI and robotics to reinvigorate domestic production. Complementing this industrial focus, the project includes plans for a major West Coast shipyard to enhance national security and maritime capabilities. Alongside these efforts, California Forever envisions a walkable, affordable urban community capable of housing up to 400,000 people, inspired by traditional American neighborhood design. Together, these components form a comprehensive strategy to restore American competitiveness in innovation, manufacturing, and urban living.
